The Vectra Breast Sculptor in use |
By taking a 3D image of the woman’s body and combining 3D models of saline and gel implants, the new imaging system provides a much more vivid way to visualize possible results than conventional before and after photos or by stuffing bras. The images are created using a woman’s measurements and her desired size of breast augmentation.
To create the simulations, a 3D image is taken of the woman's upper body, then "landmarks" are placed in the image to provide precise measurements which are used to select implant sizes and types, and to identify where the location of the woman's chest wall for purposes of creating the modeled results.
The finished images showing the breasts in 3D with their new contours can then be reviewed by Dr. Glat and the patient. The images may be viewed from any angle, and they may also be superimposed over the woman’s pre-op images to illustrate the differences.
“The system also produces a report including pre-op photos, breast measurements and information on implant selection,” says Dr. Glat. The images are simulations and actual procedure results may vary.
